Morrigan Prayer
by Hester Butler-Ehle
I call to you, O Morrigan, O awesome one,
O fearsome one, lady of the crow, goddess
of ancient name, of might beyond understanding.
In shape you shift, O goddess; in nature you endure,
you who stand alone in strength, you who are three,
who wears three forms, who bears three names: Macha, Badb,
Nemain. Tester of heroes, holder of the land,
lover of great-hearted Dagda, firm of footing,
strong of arm, called on by those on fringe and frontier,
taker of the heart’s blood, chooser of those who fall
in battle, you know well the fates of men. Goddess,
daughter of the Danaan, I praise and honor you.
